The other day while scrolling through social media, I came across a post that immediately made me feel less than. I mean, it really just made me feel like what I was doing in this space, especially with my blog, was just not enough.
Though the blogging community is awesome and helpful, I am constantly met with advice, ideas, and new information. Most times, it’s really hard to keep up with. Every time I turn around, there is more information available on how to grow your brand and your Instagram, pitch yourself to businesses, and how to make money “easily” and “quickly”. And although I’m sure very few people will admit it, the heavily saturated blogging community and all the opinions floating around in it can easily make one feel like they are not “enough.”
Not enough money. Not enough followers. Not enough popularity. Not enough engagement or likes. Not enough.
Never enough.
Now, let’s look at the dictionary definition of “enough.” The iPhone Google definition of this word is “as much or as many as required.” Reading this definition makes sense because we are constantly met with reasons why we are not or do not have as much as required.
Lately, for me, my “not enough” comes in when I am thinking about blogging, influencing, and reaching people. What is needed for brand deals? Ah, I don’t have what’s required. What is needed to be an influencer? Again, I don’t have what is required. I don’t have a large following? I am not popular enough. I don’t have a lot of likes and comments? I am not pretty or likable enough.
Maybe you’re not in the blogging world. Maybe you work a corporate job (because I do that too). You could have an opportunity for a promotion but what is needed for that? And you’re met with not having enough experience or education.
There literally are a million situations that you can encounter where you feel less than and like you don’t have enough in your hands or that you’re just not good enough. You may look at what you have and say that there is no way you can get from here to there. It may seem impossible to get more too; whether you are stuck at a dead-end job, low on money, or just feeling like the hamster-wheel of life is getting to you, you feel like you will never have enough.
Feeling like you don’t have enough is hard. Feeling like you’re not enough is harder. But I believe that God is with us in this feeling. Jesus knows everything about us and he understands how we feel. He bears this pain with us and holds our hand through this.
However, Jesus also gives us His words for when we are in the middle of this feeling. Therefore, I compiled a couple of scriptures that I pray encourage you like they encouraged me to understand that I am enough and I have enough.
Scriptures for When you Feel like you Are Not Enough
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” – Ephesians 2:10
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”– 1 Peter 2:9
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
“Then Job replied to the LORD: ‘I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted.’” – Job 42:1-2
“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” – Zephaniah 3:17
Remember that Jesus loves you. He created you. He gave you a special purpose. He knows the numbers of hairs on your head. He takes great delight in you and rejoices over you.
And darling, just that, makes you more than enough.
